Behold... a Cupcake Kitchen Original

After two trips, I was able to secure just one of Cupcake Kitchen & Luncheonette's signature treats.

And know that I wanted more than one... they just weren't available.

Needless to say the new shop is a hit and was packed on Friday and Saturday, when I stopped in.

The young girls behind the counter — who were helpful and polite — are outfitted in cute baby blue t-shirts and white aprons to match the decor. The woman running the place — who I presume is owner Jennifer O’Connell — wears an adorable floral apron.

While the cupcakes are very hard to come by (I'd recommend you get there when the store opens to get some), the ice cream — Jane's Ice Cream, which is homemade in the Hudson Valley — is equally delish. We doubled up with Killer Chocolate and Peanut Butter Fudge. Divine.

Have you been there? Did you get a cupcake? What do you think? Talk back below.

I went to cupcake kitchen and was very unimpressed. The service was awful, the food was ridiculously expensive - $5.00 for peanut butter and jelly - and why is it $1.75 to add french fries to a burger and $3.00 to add them to a sandwich. I ordered a sandwich - nothing was on the bread and other than the sandwich nothing on the plate. If you order a salad and want bread it is $1. Give me a break. The proprietor was in the shop and didn't even acknowledge her patrons. Very unprofessional. The service was slow and she wasn't even paying attention. In an empty restaurant it took 20 minutes to get lunch. Her cupcakes may be good but after my experience I will never find out.

All the prices are under like 8 dollars. How is that expensive?? Just curious. That's really not expensive. try having lunch in Manhattan. And you're sitting in their restaurant... not on your couch. You pay to be waited on.

Cupcake Kitchen is a wonderful addition to Main Street. I went in with my daughter and son to get cupcakes "to go" and the staff couldn't have been sweeter (no pun intended). I didn't get a cupcake for myself but after cadging a bite from the kids, I regretted it. Incredible moist cake and fresh buttercream with intense natural flavors. On a Friday/Saturday night it's great to see the local tweens running in and out of the place, chatting, eating, and having a good time. I'd like to thank Jennifer O'Connell for providing such a great well-designed addition to our increasingly attractive Main Street businesses (Mina's/Black Cat/Tra La La/Sunnyside Flowers/Head2Head/Buttermilk Blue etc.) adding well-designed, high-quality businesses that should keep people shopping local during these difficult times and also are making Irvington a "destination" for other rivertown neighbors and people from further afield.

Just want to correct my previous post: I realize Buttermilk Blue is now gone, unfortunately... I meant to say "Say Cheese and Thank You" but I still think of the two together!

These are the best cupcakes I have ever eaten. The cake is so lite and moist. The frosting is lite and creamy. I try to take my grandchildren there every time they visit. The whole luncheonette is a wonderful experience.
