Welcome Home, Jason Wager!

Yellow ribbons have long been associated with those waiting for the return of a loved one in the military, so when I saw a gentleman decorating all the telephone poles lining Main Street I wondered just who was being recognized. The April 17 edition of The Rivertowns Enterprise has the answer.

Jason Wager, who lives on South Astor St., has returned to our sleepy little village after an 8-month tour in Iraq.

The night before he arrived home, the 28-year-old Marine's father, Richard Wager, affixed ribbons to utility poles to mark the path from the family's home near Ardsley Country Country Club to his apartment in the heart of our village.

"It was really great to be home on American soil, where everything is the way it's supposed to be," Jason told the paper.

He adds that now that he's home, he plans to return to work in the family business — but could be called up again anytime in the six more years he's signed on with the Marine reserves.

Read the full story in this week's Enterprise. And if you see Jason around town, welcome him home, okay?
