That Nice Girl On Main Street

Behold... a Cupcake Kitchen Original

After two trips, I was able to secure just one of Cupcake Kitchen & Luncheonette's signature treats.

And know that I wanted more than one... they just weren't available.

Needless to say the new shop is a hit and was packed on Friday and Saturday, when I stopped in.

The young girls behind the counter — who were helpful and polite — are outfitted in cute baby blue t-shirts and white aprons to match the decor. The woman running the place — who I presume is owner Jennifer O’Connell — wears an adorable floral apron.

While the cupcakes are very hard to come by (I'd recommend you get there when the store opens to get some), the ice cream — Jane's Ice Cream, which is homemade in the Hudson Valley — is equally delish. We doubled up with Killer Chocolate and Peanut Butter Fudge. Divine.

Have you been there? Did you get a cupcake? What do you think? Talk back below.

The Perfect Getaway... Complete with Grisly Murder Coverage

The classy classic Sunnyside Flower Shop always goes all out with their window displays.

Right now it's a travel getaway theme — complete with palm trees, a hammock and beach totes.

But I did get a creepy feeling seeing the suggested reading material for the perfect vacation... Craigs List Murderer! The preppy doc-in-training who beat and shot women in motel rooms all over the Northeast.

What's wrong with a little fluffy chick lit?

Anyway, happy June! Here's hoping you have a lovely getaway planned for yourself some time this month. If you're like me, you could definitely use a vacation.

Main Street Guessing Game

Let's play a little something I'm going to call the Main Street Guessing Game. I'll show you a photo of a specific something-something on our village drag, and you take a guess where it is. Put your two cents in the comments section below.

So strap on your thinking caps, slip into Main Street mode and get going!

First up...

Head 2 Head Has a New Home

It's out with the old...

... and in with the new! Head 2 Head Sports & Games has a new home — the former location of Video Visions.

And, yes, they ripped up the movie reel carpeting before moving in. They now also have room for birthday parties... and — geeky gamers rejoice — all the head to head tournaments imaginable.

It's play time!

Main Street Window Boxes: Take Three

Everyone smiles as you drift past the flowers
That grow so incredibly high.

Main Street Window Boxes: Take Two

So you plant your own garden and decorate your own soul,
Instead of waiting for someone to bring you flowers.

Continuing my quest to deliver photos of the most beautiful fleurs on Main Street, here are some more.

Sweet! The Cupcake Kitchen and Luncheonette is Finally Opening

The month of May will be ending on a sugary sweet note!

The Cupcake Kitchen and Luncheonette will finally open its doors on Friday, May 29 at 11am.

Took a look in the windows today and it sure appears to be a tasty treat with the cutest blue and white retro tables and chairs.

From Westchester Magazine: "The Cupcake Kitchen (also a breakfast and lunch spot) delivers ... with a whimsical, old-fashioned approach: think cotton-candy-colored pink with tiny chunks of peppermint peeking out, chocolate cake with a peanut-butter frosting, and vanilla with a gorgeous flower on top. Owner Jennifer O’Connell is serious about preserving the “American comfort-food experience.” That means making cupcakes without additives and relying on high-quality ingredients such as all natural extracts and local butter.

Are you going to check it out this weekend — or wait until the hype dies down and you can actually get a seat? Let me know.

Commuter Corner: Jesse James, MTA & Me

Does this ad make you want to watch Jesse James' new show? After staring at it for 45 minutes on Sunday morning I decided that yes, yes it does. Perhaps less for the stunts and more because I can't believe this is the guy Sandra Bullock says dotes on her

I'd also like to take this opportunity to post a link to the new commuter railroad prices that become effective June 17. Hello, $210. Looks like we'll be getting to know each other.

Hmm... I wonder if my extra $20 a month will go toward fixing some of the MTA's worst escalators or the long, long, long awaited Fulton Transit Center.

Keep up the good work!

Working Hard... or Hardly Working?

Working from home rules... especially if it means two trips to Geordanes and shopping time at Say Cheese & Thank You.

By the way, if you happen to bump into my dad around town, please don't tell him what his Father's Day card looks like.
